Different Strains of Cannabis

The Endocannabinoid System

The endocannabinoid system is a biological system composed of endocannabinoids, which are endogenous lipid-based retrograde neurotransmitters that bind to cannabinoid receptors, and cannabinoid receptor proteins that are expressed throughout the vertebrate central nervous system and peripheral nervous system

Endocannabinoid System

CBD, CBN, and THC fit like a lock and key into existing receptors. These receptors are part of the endocannabinoid system which impacts physiological processes affecting pain modulation, and appetite plus anti-inflammatory effects and other immune system responses. The endocannabinoid system comprises two types of receptors. CB1 and CB2, serve distinct functions in animal health and well-being

Cannabinoid Receptor

The cannabinoid receptors are G protein-coupled receptors that are activated by endocannabinoids or exogenous agonists such as tetrahydrocannabinol. CDB does not directly fit CB1 or CB2 receptors but has powerful indirect effects still being studied.

What Can Medical Cannabis Do For Me?

Although there is quite a bit of research still to do, preliminary studies have supported the therapeutic benefits of using cannabis over conventional pharmacology.  Always consult with a healthcare practitioner before you start taking or stop taking medications, as this can cause undesirable effects. Remember start low, and go slow!
